ESPLIN: Rockets to the Moon

J.J. Adande has it absolutely right. Jlin made the right move, to the right place, at the right time…

“There’s much more room for Lin to do his thing than if he were playing with Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and J.R. Smith. When Lin had the show primarily to himself in February, he averaged 20.9 points per game and shot 47 percent. When Anthony and Stoudemire were back full time in March, Lin’s numbers dropped to 14.6 points per game and 41 percent shooting.

The opportunity is there for Lin in Houston. So is 40 years’ worth of franchise history. And a lifetime’s worth of financial security to go with it. Jeremy Lin is in the right place.”

ESPLIN: Obama Knew About Jeremy Lin Before Linsanity

Obama: “I’ve been on the Jeremy Lin bandwagon for a while”

The nation’s best-known basketball fan — President Obama — says he heard about Jeremy Lin “way back when.”

“I knew about Jeremy before you did, or everybody else did,” Obama told Bill Simmons, the sports columnist and founded of the ESPN-affiliated website Grantland.com

“And so way back when, Arne and I were playing and he said, ‘I’m telling you, we’ve got this terrific guard named Jeremy Lin at Harvard,’” Obama said. “And then one of my best friends — his son is a freshman at Harvard — and so when he went for a recruiting trip he saw Lin in action.”

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]o measure just how far the Knicks have come, how much has changed in a short period, one could count the number of bodies used Wednesday night or the standing ovations they enjoyed or the giddy chants that occasionally echoed across Madison Square Garden.

Lin rebounded with a 19-point, 13-assist effort and played 33 minutes. Baron Davis had his best game since joining the rotation with 8 assists and 4 points in 14 minutes, allowing Lin a needed breather in the second half.

ESPLIN: Introducing Jeremy Lin Nike Zoom Hyperfuse

Nike to launch Jeremy Lin-themed shoes

By Nivedita Bhattacharjee in Chicago | Reuters

(Reuters) – Nike Inc will start selling Jeremy Lin-themed shoes this weekend, cashing in on the New York Knick point guard’s recent rise to worldwide fame.
Priced at $130, the shoes will be available on Nike’s website.

Nike said it will launch the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low basketball shoes, built especially for Lin, this weekend in Orlando, Florida, where the NBA is holding its All-Star festivities.
“It’s not a signature line but a version of the shoe that he’s been wearing this season,” the company told Reuters.

Lin, the NBA’s first Chinese-American player and a Harvard graduate, has rocketed from obscurity to global celebrity in just 12 starts for the Knicks. The world’s biggest sporting goods company, headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, signed Lin in 2010, and launched its “Linsanity” line of clothes at Foot Locker Inc stores last week.

ESPLIN: Jeremy Lin Rookie Card Sells for $21,850

Playing the Linsanity Card

Jeremy Lin’s rookie card sold for $21,850 on eBay Thursday, according to The New York Times. To put that into perspective, ungraded Michael Jordan rookie cards often sell for less than $600. That’s not to say the newfound Knicks star has eclipsed Jordan in popularity: the sale of one Jordan card in perfect condition once fetched $100,000, according to ESPN.

The seller of the Lin card, Yair Rozmaryn, netted a nearly $21,000 profit on the sale, according to the NYT. Rozmaryn made a $1,000 bet on Lin’s success two weeks ago, buying the card after Lin captivated the crowd for only two games.

ESPLIN: Linsanity — Unlike Anything Sports Has Ever Seen

David Stern gives Lin a lot of credit for lighting a fire under the NBA

Now everyone seems to be enjoying the season and looking forward to the All-Star game this weekend…

Living Large Linsanity.  The is the type of mojo that sticks around for the NBA All-Star Game. Lin’s popularity is so out of this world that the NBA made a late roster switch to ensure his participation in the Rising Stars Challenge on All-Star Saturday, a game that includes the NBA’s best rookies and sophomores. Lin is in such high demand that all of the game’s other participants will meet with the media following a team practice on Friday while Lin will have his own, separate press conference later in the night. This is Jeremy’s world, folks. We’re all just living in it. Even David Stern and the rest of the league’s All-Stars, at least for the moment.
