ESPLIN: Linsanity Brings Out the Best in NBA Opponents

NBA Teams Make Sure They are Ready to Play and Win Against Linsanity

Bill Reiter breaks down Linsanity on FOX Sports

Lin is, if not an elite player, at least a sure NBA starter and sometimes star. I believe he is more than a flash in the pan. He has shown his worth and his promise since bursting onto the scene last month, and to think he will fade as abruptly as he rose is absurd.

But, to be sure, he has also shown an at-times unsettling ability to bring out the wrath of star players for which he had no answer. And against a star-studded team like the Heat on Feb. 23, Lin gave a basketball clinic on how to be swallowed whole.

This is the confounding part of Linsanity and a fascinating factor surrounding uesday night’s Knicks-Mavericks game. Jeremy Lin is both a budding star and an unlikely agent of change bringing out the most ferocious aspects of the teams he’s facing.

Why isn’t there any news update lately??  Is it because the Knicks have lost 6 out of last 7 games and probably won’t make the playoffs?  Also because JLin has been sucking up big time during the stretch?

Best written comment I ever read on Linsanity. I believe many people share your view.

Most players, star players . . . are black and clearly rise to the challenge to humiliate and make sure no Chinese American Male could be superior or even their equal in THE gAme that defines BLack Males Individuality and Physical Supremacy over the White and any Other race. It is a matter of racial and cultural pride. Moreover, I think Carmelo was upstaged by all the Linsanity publicity, which was overdone, insulting by the American mass Media machine bored and looking for new blood to bring to market. Stil further, a clear look of disdain and incredulous disbelief appears on the faces  of Lebron, Wade, Parker, Wall, Williams and all the other current super points, who had to earn their way and slowly elevate their level of play over several years of apprenticeship and non-recognition.

Finally, I believe Lin . . . himself . . . has adjusted to the racism and one upmanship and fades as is the typical reaction to such utter anger, violent rage and need to impune another with total rejection and lack of respect. I think this is what cut Lin down during the losing streak of playing against the greats like Parker, Williams and Rondo. And, that Lin . . . made himself “disappear” to appease Melo’s obvious confusion and understable dis-orientation to return to a team which had been Led to the Peak of NBA stardom by winning 7 games in a row to match the idolatry of the BEST NBA MARQUEE TEAMs . . . led by an unsung 2d year reject who didn’t even start on the Knicks when he got injured. Clearly, Lin deferred to Melo and to the confusion that D’Antoni basked in.

No one’s to blame. All of the above was predictable and is understandable. If anything, D’Antoni and the entire Knicks team should receive congratulations along with Lin for having won 7 games in a row and destroying the Lakers while missing its star . . . and essentially winning . . . the OLD FASHIONED WAY . . . sharing the ball in a “starless, non-NBA, non-fabricated, commercial star system. Lin distributed and regarded every player on the team as a star . . . sad to have seen the magic of fair play, sharing, caring and communal ONeNeSs . . . go . . .

    Perhaps, it will return . . . *-)
